Course Description
A co-developed course from CAMGA and IBAO exclusive to IBAO members.
MGAs (Managing General Agents) have come a long way over the past years, and despite their increasing value and sophisticated products & services, there remain many myths around what an MGA is and is not. Is it an insurance company or a broker? This course, The Why? of an MGA will tackle these myths, and more, head on.
Developed in partnership between the Canadian Association of Managing General Agents (CAMGA) and the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO), we will spend one hour providing critical information about framework MGAs exist under, their underwriting parameters, and learn how to search for MGA’s using the CAMGA platform, Bridge.
Learning Objectives:
1. Articulate the history of MGA in Canada.
2. Describe the regulatory framework MGAs work under, both provincially and federally.
3. Explain how an MGA comes into existence.
4. Identify key areas of the CAMGA platform Bridge for finding the right MGA for your client.
