Starting July 1, 2026, the Ontario Auto insurance product is changing. With the passing of Ontario Regulation 383/24, the Insurance Act has been amended to allow for optionality in the Accident Benefits section of all Ontario Auto policies.

These changes apply to the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS), which forms the core framework for Section 4 Accident Benefits of the Ontario Auto Policy. Effective July 1, 2026, the majority of accident benefits have been changed from standard to optional. As a result, the Ontario Automobile Policies (OAP 1, OPF 2, and OAP 4) have been updated accordingly. This means that most accident benefits in Section 4 that were previously standard (i.e., included or mandatory, with limited optional buy-ups) will now become optional benefits, allowing customers to opt in or opt out.

Over seven lessons, you will learn what is changing, how these changes appear in both forms and products, and the impacts on consumers. Through videos, interactive activities, and scenarios, you will be equipped to have informed discussions with consumers, address objections, and support both personal and commercial clients in making informed decisions about their accident benefits.
