Exam Accommodations
The IBAO is committed to accommodating different needs and will make every effort to accommodate examinees with documented disabilities/impairment or needs relating to a protected ground and who may require alternative arrangements to write an examination.
Accommodation Process
Request
Accommodations can be requested for Licensing (RIBO) Examinations and Designation (CAIB/CPIB) Examinations.
Accommodation requests for RIBO Examinations will be jointly reviewed with RIBO.
How and When
Examinees are required to complete the IBAO Exam Accommodation Request Form and gather the required supporting documentation.
The Request Form and supporting documentation should be sent by email as attachments to exams@ibao.on.ca.
Requests for exam accommodation must be received no later than three weeks before the exam date.

Personal Statement
A detailed personal statement that describes the examinee’s accommodation needs as relating to the context of the exam(s)
Medical Letter or Assessment Report
If applicable, a detailed medical letter or assessment report signed and dated, on official letterhead from a treating medical professional who is qualified to evaluate the examinee’s functional limitations and associated accommodation needs. Medical letters, reports and assessments must be dated within the past three years.
Report should include: A description of the examinee’s functional limitations and associated accommodation needs as relating to the context of the exam(s); and specific recommendations for test accommodations, including the use of any assistive devices or equipment required, with an explanation of why they are needed and appropriate.
If the document is dated more than three years ago, a new letter or report from a treating medical professional may also be required, confirming that the limitations are still present and noting any changes to the associated accommodation needs as relating to the context of the exam.
Documentation from Previously Approved Accommodations
If applicable, copies of supporting documentation on official letterhead detailing previously granted exam accommodations from other relevant testing organizations.
Review & Decision
Accommodation Decision
Accommodation requests are assessed on a case-by-case basis to ensure equal opportunity for individuals to fully demonstrate their qualifications without altering the nature or level of the qualification being assessed.
Each case is considered after carefully reviewing the submitted documentation; accommodation decisions are communicated to candidates via email.
Submitting a request does not guarantee receiving accommodation.
