IBAO Launches Consumer Education Campaign Ahead of Ontario Auto Insurance Reforms

With Ontario's auto insurance reforms set to take effect July 1, 2026, the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) has launched a new campaign through Ontario Brokers, a hub aimed to help drivers understand what's changing and give Ontario insurance brokers a ready-made resource to support conversations with clients.

At the centre of the campaign is OntarioBrokers.ca, a new website designed to explain the reforms clearly and connect consumers with licensed brokers who can guide them through their options. A social video series, available now on the Ontario Brokers YouTube channel, gives brokers shareable content to use across email, social media and client conversations. The campaign is running across YouTube, Meta and TikTok, backed with paid media to drive reach to consumers province wide.

The new auto insurance reforms introduce significant changes to how Optional Accident Benefits coverage is structured in Ontario. A number of coverages that were previously standard will now require consumers to actively select and tailor to their individual circumstances, giving drivers more choice, but also more options to navigate.

"Ontario drivers are about to face insurance decisions on coverages that they've never had to make before and insurance brokers are the single best resource a driver has when navigating a decision this important," said Colin Simpson, CEO, IBAO. "This campaign exists to make sure every Ontario driver knows they have an expert in their corner and knows how to reach them."

The campaign is designed to reach a broad range of Ontario drivers, including families, parents, delivery drivers, new Canadians, and those navigating Ontario auto insurance for the first time.  Ontario brokers are invited to direct policyholders to OntarioBrokers.ca and to access campaign videos at the Ontario Brokers YouTube channel.
